today is 13 march 2019, i go to http://target.com to buy $16 or so of worth of oven cleaner. target has the best price of anywhere online. they’re great. i love target. i use my redcard. i save 5% extra.
i go to check out. problem with my card. call target it says.
there is a problem with your card. please call the customer service number on the back, or some such krap.
wtf? i don’t owe them anything i thought.
i look back… 5 mar 2019 target red card balance 293.45
yes, and i paid the full balance online …
my bank statement:
so i call target. voicemail tells me i have a $0.00 balance. paid up to date. i also have only $6 available credit.
huh? i listen to a krapload of other voice system options, finally press zero para operator and get someone with lots of noise chatter in the background and with an accent to boot, uh oh, not that i have anything against certain accents but this is going to be hell, i thought, then again who knows this could be a guy who actually works in the us is a legalized naturalized american citizen and did it the right way on the up and up, their store brand up and up, no? anyway, that’s a different subject.
and his english was excellent, by the way, nice guy also. he didn’t ask me to stay on the line for a survey though. their loss.
however, he explains, “your account is on hold because you paid a balance of greater than $100 from a new source.
“That makes no sense. you took the money out of my bank eight days ago, i think i used my bank debit card. i have a zero balance with you and you’re denying me credit?”
“yes. all we have to do is have a conference call with your bank….”
wait!!!! this is krapchat!!!!!
i almost politely told them they could call the bank, that i had already wasted half an hour to try to save 80 cents (5% of the approximate $16 for using my krappy redcard), that i had wasted his time and my time and would waste no more time on this. call me back within half an hour and tell me it’s resolved or cancel the card, close the account, i owe you nothing, right?”
“NO. no but. thanks. call me back or cancel the card. bye.”
i will continue shopping at target. i will never use their krap redcard again.
and i don’t give a fuck where their customer service boiler room is. the call was polite, the guy was helpful up to the point of trying to explain in insane policy, and target can go fuck itself. themself. whatever.
